telemetry / az416426.vo.msecnd.net

We are using on premise report server (not online) , due to security requirments we do not allow users to have access outside the organization but every time we open a powerbiu dashboard it attempts to connect to http://az416426.vo.msecnd.net  - giving the users a security popup allowing them to enter the proxy info.

The question is why is an on premise solutuion trying to go outside ? and how do we prevent it.

As it stands we cannot use the product

Dear all,

I've was also facing this issue and took a closer look and I'd like to share my information with you.

I've posted my finding at "https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Report-Server/Power-BI-Report-Server-Telemetrie/m-p/719152#M10697" if you'd like to take a look.

Best Regards

Daniel

@Anonymous I am having the same problem. I am not even using SSRS server. We are usng SSRS web services and reportviewer to run reports. Any idea what to do in this case?

Thanks

Hello @Markzolotoy ,

unfortunately I haven't implemented your scenario jet, therefore I don't know here to turn off telemetrie at your implementation.

I could have told you using SQL Server SSRS engine.

Just an idea, you may search for "CPE" key within registry, that's key where SQL Server, SSAS, PBI RS and some other Microsoft products store telemetrie settings, maybe Microsoft has implemented same structure for your environment.

Sorry that I can't help.

Best regards

Actually I have found the solution. Here is a line of code from ReportViwer.aspx:

<rsweb:ReportViewer ID="ReportViewer1" runat="server" Height="100%" Width="100%" OnLoad="ReportViewer1_Load" EnableTelemetry="false">

add code in bold. It should stop going out for a JS file.

Hi BigRob,

do you have a solution for the problem? We have the same problem with the connection to msecnd.net.

Hi

when opening any powerbi dashboard it attempts to connect to

https://az416426.vo.msecnd.net/scripts/a/ai.1.0.4.min.js

which being outside our organisation will ask the user for the proxy info.
