power bi report server & SSAS Tabular Hardware

Hello Experts,

We have a server with a SSAS Tabular. We are going to set up a power bi report server now and I was wondering if it was best to install PBIRS on the same server (eventually increase server capacity) or to install it on a dedicated one?

Thanks!

It depends, but generally it's better to install on separate machines. SSAS tabular is generally memory intensive, and there can be resource conflict between SSAS and PBIRS when run on the same machine espcially with spike-load scenarios. On a separate machine, SSAS tabular can have a more predictable amount of memory to manage.
