odata Credentials - Couldn't connect - Log on Failed

Hi,

I have a report where I connect to an odata feed to one of our applications hosted by the vendor.

When I connect to the odata feed from Power BI Desktop, I can connect and I can access the information and create reports.

When I publish the report to our internally hosted Power BI Report Server,

  • I go to the properties of the report
  • goto Data Sources
  • Go down to the Credentials and
  • Change the Authentication type to Basic Authentication
  • Enter the username and passowrd that I used for the report in Power BI Desktop
  • When I click Test Connection
  • I get a red x Couldn't Connect with the following message

Are you able to post the error message you are getting? It appears to have dropped off your earlier post.

Hmm, I was wondering if the issue might have been a firewall or proxy server issue. (And it still might be, as some IT departments lock down servers so they do not have direct access to the internet by default). But that is just a generic authentication error. You might need to review the server logs or get the server admin to check these if you don't have access.

I checked that and it was not the issue.

Funny thing is, I saved the the username and password even though there was an error.

I added a schedule and it worked and was refreshing the data.

Must be a bug.
