Upload pbix report fails without error

I have a new install of Report Server Version 1.11.7815.26414 (May 2021) and I am trying to load any report it fails without any visible error. I cannot load any Excel files either. What do I need to do?

The report server is installed on a VM that has Windows server 2019 Standard with 16GB ram and 64 bit operating system.

Hello @AdrianBuzgau,

I've had similar issues with "large" reports, usually those in the 100MB range. Strangely enough our work around solution was different depending on the Report Server version. Sometime the "Save As" in Desktop would fail without error but the "Upload" function directly on the Report Server web page would work, on another version it was the opposite.

Since you mention that you cannot upload Excel files I'm guessing it's a different problem but it wouldn't hurt to try both the "Save as" and the "Upload" just in case.

My only other idea would be to go check the logs (default path is: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Power BI Report Server\PBIRS\LogFiles) and see if there is anything that stands out.

@AdrianBuzgau : How are you trying to load the PBIX file? Are you using "Power BI Desktop Optimized for Desktop' and uploading it directly?
