We are currently running Power BI Report Server version 14.0.600.434. The version of SQL Server we are running is SQL Server 2016 SP2 build 4522. Is it possible to upgrade to the lastest version of Power BI Report Server under the SQL Server version I am running? If so then what is the upgrade procedure? If we try and run the install would it detect an existing version and do an upgrade or would we have to first uninstall the existing Power BI Report Server?
Also, on our desktops we are running Power BI Desktop for service version 2.51.4885.701. We would like to upgrade. We are considering installing Power BI Desktop optimized for Report Server as the reports are being kept on site. Is this the recommended way to go? I understand it will be better as features in Power BI Desktop for service may not work in the onsite environment.
