Unable to Save report to Report Server - Unexpected error encountered

I am using the trial version of the Report Server.

The web portal is accessible, but when I try to do a save as to the report server from the desktop by specifying the URL, I encounter the following error.

Hi,

Are you trying to publish the PBIX to the report server? If so I find the best way is to use the Upload menu option from the Power BI Report Server browser page.

The Upload option allows you to browse to your PBIX saved work folder and then load your work to the RS for browsing by users. You must use the RS version of the PBI Desktop to create the PBIX. I'm using the RS Desktop and RS Sever software dated Oct 2017.

Security is setup the same way as for SSRS reports, using the Manage option from the three dots menu, or via the Manage Folder menu option in the RS Browser.

Hope this helps.

Rob

In case of a PBIX file I may add that the versions of the Power BI Desktop designer and the Power BI Report Server should be aligned.

Files created with the 2017 November release of Power BI Desktop cause the same error message when uploaded to October 2017 release of Power BI Report Server
