Truncated Folder/Report Titles

Hello!

I have a pesky issue that I'm wondering if this community can help me solve. I have a few folder and report titles that are being slightly truncated within the default web server view in my browser (see image below for an example). If I make the folder/title name longer by adding additional text, the title nicely wraps to a second line, allowing for visibility of the title in its entirety. However, I would prefer for these particular folder/report names to stay as they are. I've tried adding extra spaces to the end of the title text as well as adding non-breaking spaces (ASCII CODE 255) and it doesn't help; the title still stays truncated and on one line.

I don't think it is possible to adjust the width of my boxes for this purpose either; is it? I would be most grateful for any tips or tricks this community may have to share! Thank you.

Hi @cb1017 ,

You can use Portal V2 in your current version and then the folder name will be displayed in its entirety.

You can connect to Report Services in SSMS and then open the Properties.

Then change "UsePortalV2" from "False" to "True" in Advanced.

This looks like an older version of the Portal. Have you tested this with the current January 2022 release? They have updated the portal styling and I cannot replicate the issue you have here.

Thank you, @d_gosbell! We are still on the May 2021 version of PBIRS, so that may, indeed, be the issue. We'll make sure to be on the lookout for this improvement when the time comes for us to upgrade to a newer version of the platform.

I am using SSRS 2019 (and Microsoft Edge for browser).  I just started having this Truncation problem of a report name in tile view of the web portal.  It does appear to be random - but ugly to the user and confusing.  I would appreciate any advice.  Thanks!

Hi @Icey ,

We actually aren't seeing this "UsePortalV2" property within our reporting server options. We checked with our Server Engineering folks and it seems that doing an upgrade to the January 2022 version is probably our best best, as the change log shows that the UsePortalV2 option has actually been removed in that version.

If you have any other thoughts as to how to find this property in our current PBIRS version (May 2021), please let me know! Thanks.

Hi @cb1017 ,

The above tested version is just May 2021. But there is indeed the option.

And the "UsePortalV2" feature has been available since Jan 2021 version.
