Hi,
I'm looking for a technical advice, I'm trying to achieve the following:
- Building an internet facing system that displays Power BI dashboards
- SQL membership forms authentication (already achieved following this sample (https://github.com/Microsoft/Reporting-Services/tree/master/CustomSecuritySample)
- On-Premise Power BI report server
- direct query to SQL
- pass logged in user (form authentication credential) to SQL
- I guess we can achieve row-level-security if we used "import" mode instead of "direct query" mode
- in case of connection to SSAS, can I pass form authentication credential to SSAS and apply row-level-security
Thank you,
Ayman
The first requirement most likely clashes with the license conditions for Power BI Report Server. Don't you also have a Premium capacity?
I have hae SQL enterprise license which includes PowerBI report server, I'm talking here about on-premise PowerBI report server
While there are ways to expose Report Server content on the interwebs that is still limited to your company's users
Configure Power BI Report Server with Azure Application Proxy - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
If you truly want to give external users access to your reports then you need to look at Shared or Premium capacities.
