Retail Analysis Sample PBIX cannot be uploaded on the On premise Powerbi report server

I downloaded a sample PBIX file and opened it in  Powerbi desktop Version: 2.96.1061.0 64-bit (August 2021) and created a KPI by following the instructions here -

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-visualization-kpi

However now I cannot upload the file back on the Power BI report server which is eval trial edition . See error below .

What I have to do now to fix the issue ?

If you want to publish reports to Power BI Report Server you need to use the version of Desktop that matches the version of Report Server that you are using. In the top left corner of the portal is a download link (it looks like a down arrow with a line under it) if you download the Power BI Desktop version linked there it will be able to upload to Report Server.

The reason for this is that Report Server updates on a 4 month cycle while the cloud version is updated monthly. Plus there is some functionality in the cloud version that is not available in Report Server. Unfortunately there is no way to downgrade a report you will have to re-create or re-edit it in the correct version of Desktop.
