Restrict direct access of power bi reports using URL in PBIRS

Hi,

We have a number of reports in PBIRS that are shared to users via a single web page. Therefore we are able to set the required parameters for the report while launching based on the user.

Issue we face is when user bookmarks the power bi report directly and accesses it after we have done changes to parameter list. They come back reporting there's error in the report whereas it wouldn't have happened if they had accessed it via web page.

How can we restrict user from directly going to the report and show some message or something and ensure they come via the provided web page.

If you are just re-directing the users it's pretty hard to stop them bookmarking the report directly.

An alternative approach might be to embed the reports into your webpage, using either the report viewer control, an iframe, an object tag or an embed tag. All these options are outlined in this post.

Thanks for your reply.

Actually we have them inside a web page itself but the issue is after user navigates to the Power BI report, they bookmark it.

We tried using ReportViewer control inside webpage but giving us some issues because our authentication goes via MS Azure server and it was failing due to the double hop.

I was hoping to find a way for the existing setup by modifying the ReportViewer page as we have for SSRS in the installed path. But for Power BI I couldn't find any such physical path.
