Report Migration to new server prevents edit - msg: These models aren't currently supported

Last year, we migrated our Power BI Report Server to a new server, along with an upgrade to the May, 2022 release of PBIRS.

The reports are running on the new server, but when we download the report for editing, we cannot edit the downloaded report.

We are currently using the May, 2022 version of Power BI Desktop for Report Server.

We get the message:  " This file uses many-to-many relationships or a composite model which combines DirectQuery sources and/or imported data. These models aren't currently supported in Power BI Report Server"

Just to be clear, the models were all created in a Power BI Report Server Desktop version, were loaded and running on the PBIRS May, 2022 version.

What steps are needed to open these reports? This seems to be a bug.  Since they are running in the May, 2022 version, and were created with a version if Power BI Desktop for Report Server.

If this is the case then you have hit a bug. Normally when you see issues like this it is because someone has used the wrong version of Desktop or has used a version later than the server version. So you would either need to raise a support ticket with Microsoft.

Or if you can download the latest "cloud" version of Microsoft and these reports open in that you could maybe use one of the techniques in this article to get them reports back into the Report Server version of Desktop https://darren.gosbell.com/2022/10/power-bi-report-server-fixing-cant-upload-this-report/

Update:

After upgrading our Power BI-RS to the January 2023 version. When down loading the suspect report, it still will not open in Power BI Desktop (May 2022 )version.  Next, upgraded PBI Desktop to the January 2023 version. Still will not open.  Fortunately, we have individual report backups (via PowerShell)

Thanks.  We suspected it was a bug.
Forunately for us, we have backups of all our reports  ( one of our staff setup an automated powershell script to backup all new and changed reports).
