Refresh failing (Combine Data)

Hi everyone,

Hi everyone, currently in my company we have PowerBI report server (May 2021). For some reports I get the error below:

GabrielePowerBI_1-1625478186708.png

[Unable to combine data] Section1/SOI_REVERSAL/Source references other queries or steps, so it may not directly access a data source. Please rebuild this data combination.. The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface.

The data sources we use in these reports are:

Database1:  xxx.x.xxx.xx;[database name]

Database2: [server name];[database name]

Sharepoint: https://xxxxxxxxxxx/xx/xxx

SQL Server database tables on Azure and tables from an enterprise SharePoint site. I specify that from local PCs the reports refresh without problems, the data refresh does not work only from the Report Server.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you!

Hi @Anonymous ,

Data source of SharePoint Online is not supported to refresh in Power BI Report Server. This is the cause of the issue.

List of supported data sources

Data source Cached data Scheduled refresh Live/DirectQuery
SharePoint Folder (on-premises) Yes Yes No
SharePoint List (on-premises) Yes Yes No
SharePoint Online List Yes No No

Hi, it seems that the real problem inside the report is the following:

GabrielePowerBI_0-1626179729286.png

If we delete that piece of code (in the red rectangle), then in the report server, the report now refreashed correctly.

Can you help me with this reason?

Thank you
