Power BI report server- how to set dataset/datasource

Hello. I'm relatively new with Power BI and I already have a problem
For my Power BI Report I get data from excel files on my computer.
In company, we have REPORT SERVER and I can upload my report on REPORT SERVER and that works fine.

How I can set dataset from that report on POWER BI REPORT SERVER, and than I can use that dataset for paginated reports, mobile publisher. I dont use AZURE, SQL connections just ordinary EXCEL. (I want tu put my data source and dataset on POWER BI REPORT SERVER and use it,) In Microsoft POWER BI SERVICE that is much easier beacuse when we upublish/upload our Report we automatic get dataset for that Report.

I hope I've been clear enough 🙂

Thanks a lot

Hi @nesha_278 ,

Do you mean you want to upload excel to report server as a dataset and then create paginated reports based on this dataset, etc.?
You can directly select upload files to the specified folder in the top right corner of the report server as the data source.

Upload Files to a Folder - SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) | Microsoft Docs

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and let me know immediately. Looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards,
Henry

Hi, if you want to upload a dataset you need to create one with the report builder. I guess after that you can connect with report builder to this dataset. Not sure though if you can connect to a dataset with Power BI since I never tried it, but here is a link https://dataap.org/blog/2018/01/17/power-bi-report-using-ssrs-shared-datasets/

Hi @v-henryk-mstf
sorry on my late response.

OK, I can upload my excel files in some folder which I've made on Report Server.
But I can't make dataset like I get dataset automaticly when I publish Report on Power BI Service.
Shortly, I want to make dataset on power bi report server from my Report, like on Power BI Service. Is that possible anyway?
And, of course, to use it for Report Bulder, Mobile Publisher....

Thanks again

Best regards

Nenad

I tried this. But this is not possible to create dataset like in power bi service.
