Power BI Report Server invalid url request oversized length of 260 characters long

Hi There,

I'm facing some issues on Powerbi Report Server. I'm trying to embedded a report in a Web Application. But when I'm selecting values in my dropdownlist (in order to filter my report using query string parameters in the url),  Power Bi Report Server is throwing me back this message:

  • The path of the item '/XXXtest/R%C3%A9seau%20G%C3%A9n%C3%A9raliste%20%E2%80%93%20Objectifs%20collectifs,[2017-12],[2017-12]' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. (rsInvalidItemPath) Get Online Help

If someone can help ?

With Report Server Configuration Manager there's no way to handle this.
So I found 3 configuration files in my Powerbi installation Folder :

  • web.config
  • Rsreportserver.config
  • rssrvpolicy.config

Am I supposed to change some properties in one of those files ? and If yes, what is the propertie to set that allow me to change the max Request path length ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @luluskywalker97,

From the error message, the path of your report item might be invalid. Please check the report path you specified in code. As mentioned in this thread, please try to add a slash as the start of report path.

Best regards,

Yuliana Gu
