Some environments need to have both Power BI and Dynamics CRM on premise (because of regulation, data residency, etc.). Power BI Report Server and Dynamics CRM run on premise. Any guidelines as to how to deploy / integrate the two?
Thanks!
Hi @datacentaur11,
We can embed report in Dynamics CRM on-premise via: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/quickstart-embed

Hi Qiuyun Yu,
What about the reverse: what is the best way to use Power BI Desktop RS to query Dynamics CRM? Also, there are 18 or so Content Packs in D365. Do they work in PBI Desktop RS?
Thanks!
Hi, this is what I did a while back to try it out:
1- Read up on the Dynamics CRM specific content packs:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-connect-to-microsoft-dynamics-crm
2- Install Power BI Desktop
3- Download the .PBIX for the Content Packs here:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn708055.aspx
4- Open one of the .PBIX in Power BI Desktop
5- Go to "Edit Queries"
6- In the navigation bar on the left, go down the list and find "CRMServiceURL"
7- Right-click on "CRMServiceURL" and select "Advanced Editor"
8 - Modify the "Source" parameter to point to your CRM instance's Web API URL.
You should know be able to work with the Content Pack with your CRM data.
Worked last timed I tried, although it takes a while for the data set to refresh.
Good luck!
