I've done everything here:
and looked for all related topics. However, I have SSRS 2016 (and 2017) hosted locally on my Surface Pro 4 and am trying to connect via Power BI windows 10 app on same Surface Pro and just continue to get the:
Server Address isn't valid Verify the address is a SQL Server 2016 Reporting Services address and try again
error
I can connect via browser, I've looked for items in SSRS error log, windows error logs. I can't find anything. I have no idea why it can't find the local report server.
I got this to work by making an exception for Power BI App to connect locally using Fiddler. This guide is older and Win8 based, but the setup was pretty easy once Fiddler was installed. I only did the "create loopback exemption" step, not the additonal part related to certificates. After I did this, the PBI App connected fine.

I'm guessing Power BI app is not intended to connect this way and this is not a supported setup, but it may be useful for some testing purposes.
Hi @HoosierSqlDev,
Make sure the address you input for the mobile app should be something like:
http://<servername>/reports or https://<servername>/reports
Instead of inputting server name to connect to report server, using the IP address for a test. Also, please make sure your mobile device was connected to the same network with the Power BI report server.
Did you install an other SSRS instance on your machine? If so, please try:
1. Change the Database name like ReportServerPowerBI in order to distinguish the database for SSRS instance.
2. Check in your Report Server Configuration Manager->Web service URL and Web Portal URL change the port name to other one for a test.

This is all running locally on a Surface Pro 4 (the SSRS instance(s) and the Power BI App).
Yes, I've tried with the IP Address (which does work through the browser). I've switched ports and have different db names.
Always the same error message as originally given above.
I am facing the same problem. It is working fine if it accessed using browser and android power bi mobile apps.
I've tried to use username@domain format just like in mobile apps, but like domain\username format, still it is not working.
Is there any solution for this problem? Thank you.
Regards,
Iqbal
