How will upgrading to a newer version of Report Server affect my current reports?

We are running Report Server January 2019 and have paginated reports and desktop reports on there. If we upgrade to a newer version, how will that affect the current reports? Also, is there any downtime with the process?

Newer versions of PBI Report Server are backwards compatible with older ones. So, by upgrading you should not see any errors or incompatabilities. There are continuous improvements happening so the look and feel or new features may appear after upgrades. 

There is some small downtime during the upgade. Typically in minutes. If you need a highly availble solution, you should consider looking at PowerBI.com which is a fully managed SaaS solution.
