How can we pass parameters dynamically to a Report, which is published on Power BI Report Server.

How can we pass parameters dynamically to Power BI Report published on PBI Server/On-premise server. We have to pass some values(user login id) from different app to Power Bi Report and basis on login id, Row level security should be applied and other contents should be filtered in PBI Server Dashboard. Please advise

Hi,

Thanks for your valuable suggestion. Actually this power BI dashboard, which is published on PBI Server not on cloud and then dashboard will be embedded in different application- Is there any possibility we can pass parameters dynamically to our PBI dashboard based on the user, which has logged in on embedded application. Hope this gives more clarification

Hi @Cyadav ,

As far as I know, the only solution for your case is using dynamic rls. There no other way to pass parameters dynamically .

Hi @Cyadav ,

Have you ever try the dynamic rls?

We have pass values to PBI Report, which is hosted on PBI Server not on cloud and need to pass user name from a different application, where pbi report is hosted and then need to filter based on user, which logged in on that application. There can be multiple users, who are using that application.

Hi @Cyadav ,

Did you want to filter the report based on user login id?  You may can try to use dynamic rls based on userprincipalname().  Within Power BI Report Server, username() and userprincipalname() both return the user's User Principal Name (UPN), which is similar to an email address.

For dynamically pass parameter you can refer to the similar post:https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/dynamically-pass-parameter-to-Power-bi-Report-in-PBI-Report...
