Looks like a permissions issue, couple questions:

1. Are you running the config tool remotely or on the machine that PBIRS is installed?

2. What account do you have set for the service account and does it have access to the DB and install folder for RS?

Matt M.

Hello Matt,

1) Running config tool locally, SQL Server, DB, Report server, all Local, having Local admin rights.

2) Domain account used to run RPT Service, and same account for SQL Services.

Based on the Errors, it seems there is issue in running the Power BI Server.

soming to do with WMI calls. Even though the PI Report Server running, but it is NOT fully functioning.

When looked at the RPT Server Log, the following statement found on WMI Log file of report Server.

---------------------------ReportingServiceWMI Log------------------------------------------------------

Attempt to connect to RPC server failed with hr = 0x800706b3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for your time looking into it, Very much appreciated of your help & Support. Thanks.

@lazarc we just released the lastest GA release of PBIRS (Aug was a preview) can you try to install this version and let me know if the issue goes away.? Thanks!

Hello,

Reconfigured my PC to factory install, just had only windows 10, then installed SQL Server 2014 without SSRS, then installed Power BI RS, then all worked as expected.

It appreas the exitining configuration of computer/ Installations caused the failures of PBIRS/. Had R2/SSRS, SQL 2012/SSRS, SQL 2014/SSRS.

Thanks for your time, Very much appreciated.
