Hi
We have a Power BI report, uploaded to Report Server, that is using DirectQuery (Live connection) to SQL Server Analysis Services-Server. So the flow is like this:
Power BI Report server (DirectQueyr) <--> Analysis services server (with user Impersonation) <--> db server.
The 'Data source' - connection property is set to Windows-Authentication.
When we specify a fixed user (providing user name and password) for the the data connection, the report works without any error.
But when the user is changed to 'As the user viewing the report', the report will end up with the following error (sorry, the snapshot of the error message is in German; basically it is indicating problem connecting to Analysis services server).

At this point I don't know what else to check as the possible cause of this 'connect to Analysis server' error when using the 'As the user viewing the report'. Because when I specify a specific User name and password with the 'Using the following credentials' option the report doesn't encounter the error/problem of using the 'As the user viewing the report' option.

Hmm, You could check the Issues forum here:

And if it is not there, then you could post it.
If you have Pro account you could try to open a support ticket. If you have a Pro account it is free. Go to https://support.powerbi.com. Scroll down and click "CREATE SUPPORT TICKET".
Unless Report Server, SSAS and SQL are all on the same machine you would need to have Kerberos configured in order to pass the credentials from machine to machine (see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/report-server/configure-kerberos-powerbi-reports ) the fact that the report works when you hard code the user name suggests that you have not done this or it is not configured correctly. Unfortunately troubleshooting Kerberos issues is not easy and often it comes down to double checking every step of the configuration.
