Embed Power BI report on Report Server into Web Application

Hi,

I have successfully built a Power BI report using a 'Live Connection to SSAS' as a data source, with Row-level security implemented with analysis services.

This report has been deployed to the Report Server and successfully tested for row-level security when accessed from the report server.

All good so far.

Now, comes the part to which I can't find a solution - to embed this report into a web application and have the web ap pass the username and role to the Power BI report, so that row-level security is acheived in the Power BI report that is embedded in the web app.

I have tried the iframe method of embedding the report following this link:

https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/reportserver-quickstart-embed/

But calling the web app throws a dialog box asking me to log in with credentials for the Report Server. This works fine but is not feasible in my situation. The users log into the web app and the expectation is that the username and role are passed to the report by the web app.

I have also looked at https://www.kasperonbi.com/embedding-power-bi-reports-with-power-bi-report-server/

which says that we can't use the ReportViewer control, like we do with SSRS reports.

So is there really a way to acheive what I'm looking for?

Or is this a feature yet to be built?

Hi @DD,

I'm not very sure if it's possible, maybe @mgmeyer @riccardomuti can answer this?

By the way, you can vote on this similar idea: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi-ideas/suggestions/19953286-embed-power-bi-report-se...

Thanks for your reply Qiuyun.

I've voted for the idea in the link you provided.

Wonder if other members of the community have tried this with any success.

It seems it's almost there.

Power BI on report server is very similar to an SSRS report on report server. And if we can acheive this with an SSRS report using the reportviewer control, then we are so close.
