Does ODBC interfere with connections to On-Premises Data Gateway?

We have a new On-Premises Data Gateway, but we are unable to connect our reports to it. The Gateway includes a couple of Postgres databases. On our desktop versions we connect to the data via an ODBC connection. I've verified the databases names are identical between the Gateway and the server. The people trying to connect are set up as users. 

Does the Gateway not recognize the databases because an ODBC connection is involved?

Any ideas on this? We're dead in the water trying to use the Gateway because reports won't connect.
