Cannot upload report to power bi report server

Hi everyone,

I have power bi report server version Jan 2020 and my desktop version is March 2020. I cannot upload report that I created to my report server and it says "We're not able to upload this report. The report was created with a recent version of Power BI Desktop that is not yet supported by this server"

I have most recent version of both power bi report server and power bi desktop and I don't know how can I handle this issue.

Would appreciate if anyone can help

If you have not already, please make sure that you are downloading the Power BI Desktop "Optimized for Power BI Report Server." The file name will have RS in it like this "PBIDesktopRS_x64.msi" for example. 

To be sure, go to your Power BI server  http://http://<servername>/reports/browse/ and go to the download drop down and select "Power BI Desktop." That will bring you to the matching version you need.

January 2020 is the most recent version of both server and desktop for Report Server.

Note also that you can have Power BI Desktop and Power BI Desktop for Report Server both installed. The latter will be installed here:  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Power BI Desktop RS\

so you downloaded the Desktop Client and the Server here -> https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=58494?

Please only use the recommended Desktop Client for the Report Server 🙂
