Azure AD for Security

I'm having issues finding this answer online so I'm hoping you all can help me. I'm very new to Power BI and how to implement security in general, so I apologize if this is a very basic question.

Is it possible to use Azure AD groups for PowerBI security? This thread from 2019 says no, but I've seen recent threads on using an application proxy  that seems like it might work.

For the on-prem Power BI Report Server - no you cannot use AzureAD groups, but you can use on-prem AD groups.

If you are using the Power BI cloud service then Azure AD groups will work fine.
