Hi,
in my company there is an existing on-premise (global) Gateway installed.
On the PBI reporting server I now want to use this gateway in order to daily refresh mit reports.
But when I go under manage Gateways I don't see anything. It says that I don't have a Gateway yet.
Since there is already an existing on premise Gateway I would like to use it.
Question is how to I do this?
Do I need to be inserted into the PBI Gateway Admin portal as an Admin?
As far as I understood only the ones who are added as a Gateway Admin can use this Gateway and hence refresh their reports, right?
Can any Gateway Admin add me as an admin?
Thank you!
Hey @Smokey24 ,
I'm a little confused, this is due to the following.
You are mentioning Power BI Report Server, you have to be aware that this is the on-premises "variant" of Power BI Service, you can read more about this here: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/report-server/
If you are using Power BI Report Server, you don't need a gateway, as everything is on-premises.
A gateway bridges the communication between the Power BI Service that is located on Azure and your on-premises data sources.
Ask your Power BI Service Administrator to add a connection to your on-premises data source, and add you to the users that are allowed to use this connection:
Hopefully, this helps to tackle your challenge.
Regards,
Tom
