A device attached to the system is not functioning- Power BI on Premises scheduled refresh fails

We have recently found some of our Power BI reports which has both source excel files and Database has been failing to refresh through schedule with the error message as A device attached to the system is not functioning. . The exception was raised by the IDataReader interface. Please review the error message and provider documentation for further information and corrective action. [1] -1055784934: The command has been canceled.. The exception was raised by the IDataReader interface. Please review the error. I tried to do the manual refresh of the same report in Power BI desktop and then schedule refresh the same it worked. I was also able to connect to source excel files successfully as well still it was throwing the same error until i do the manual refresh. I want to find out from this forum what would be the cause of this error A device attached to the system is not functioning how did manual refresh fix?

We are trying to understand the rootcause so that this issue wont be repeated.

Sounds like either your PBIRS server or the data source you are refreshing from is having hardware issues. I would suggest you start by checking the windows event logs in both these systems.
