i can not link excel files on share point to power bi

I am new to power Bi and I am having real troubles linking excel files hosted on Sharepoint to power bi.

If i download the file I can then use it in power bi so the issue is not the file

I have tried using the get data button and then selecting excel file, they copying the link in. this gets me closest as I can see the info when i click preview but then it failes to pull the correct info through

If i try using the sharepoint link under the get date tab i just get error messages. 

I have tried using the link suggested on here but this does not work either

https://xxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/<sitename>/Shared%20Documents/<Foldername>/<Yourexcename>.xlsx

any one able to help

Hi asellars1, 

If you want to get Excel from sharepoint by above path, I think you need to choose Web when you connect to Excel. You could refer to my previous post  for details.

In addition, you also could use Sharepoint folder to connect all Excels in folder(by  https://xxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/<sitename>/).
