When will we be able to data from an on-prem sql server database?

Hello Power BI Development team,

When will we be able to Get Data from an On-premise SQL Server Database instance? We can't do that in Power BI Online.

@Alay I'll preface this response by saying the following: 1) I'm not an MS DEV 2) you may already know this.

But I'll say this anyway. While you can't directly connect to an on-prem SQL instance from the service. You can connect via the Power BI Desktop and publish the file to the service, which in essence gives you a connection to your on-prem SQL instance...which can be refreshed via the personal gateway.
