Waterfall Chart total is not match with the table total

Hi All,

I have a query with Waterfall chart. Actually, I have created a table with certain calculations on it i.e. share * market value.

My table is showing numbers perfectly, since it is doing calculation at individual row levels and total level. However when i am converting the same from table to waterfall chart representation, it is giving me total by individual items wise. However I want total on waterfall chart should show calculation of total numbers (not the sum of individual items). Please see attached screenshot.

The total on table is -3383.3K and total on waterfall chart is -5516.0k. I want to match/keep/show -3383.3k on Waterfall chart too.

Kindly advice/help/suggest on the same.

Hi team,

The formula is simple.

Let me explain you further with the help of an example in my screehsot. My brand name is ABC brand, my brand's region is A, Areas are W,X, Y, Z.

Brand Value CY =56.6 ( this region total). The specific area i.e. W the brand value cy will be 10.2 and so on.

Brand Value PY =57.0( this region total). The specific area i.e. W the brand value py will be 10.5 and so on.

YOY_Diff = -0.4

Brand Growth= CY/PY-1 = -0.7%

Brand Category growth = 5.3%

Share Change = (Brand Value CY/Category Value CY) - (Brand Value PY/Category Value PY)

Value Market = Area Sales value

Brand Market Share change = Share Change * Value market

Kindly note:
1) Share change percentage is different at area level & too at region level.

2) since in table we have row level calculation and total level calculation so it is giving correct figure.

3) however in waterfall it is totallying only data it is showing.

4) i am thinking further that if there is some functionality of showing adjustment or mix effect of difference in the waterfall then it might help. Because this could be due to mix effect of calculation at base levels and top level.

5) in excel it is easy as we can add any row for adjustment to overcome mix effect. But i want to know is there any possibility in power BI.

Please feel free to revert in case of any further clarification required.
