Unable to add custom data connector data source in Gateway

I have developed a custom data connector using Visual Studio + PowerQuerySdk extension to fetch a JSON data from web using a URL with API key.

The custom data connector is appearing in the "Get Data" of Power BI Desktop and fetching the data from web correctly and the connector is working fine. Subsequently, I have added the custom data connector to my On-Premises gateway also. Till this point everything is fine.

The problem started when I added it as a data source in the "Manage Gateways" at the app.powerbi.com portal. It is throwing the following error.

I have added a TestConnection function in my Data Source Definition while developing the custom data connector which is a prerequisite for using custom connectors with on-premise data gateway for schedule refresh.

Does anyone know what could be the reason behind the error and how to fix it?

As said above, your data source should be online, right?

If so, you could refer to the following:

Refreshing a Power BI Custom Connector in the Cloud

In addition, which custom data connector under Get Data do you select?

Which authetication do you use for Power BI Desktop and Service? and are they different or same?

Best Regards
