Unable to add a local model when switching switching to DirectQuery (adding excel to PBI dataset)

I am in Power BI Desktop.

I connected to another Power BI Dataset. I can see the dataset in my Data Hub. It is in another workspace (not my workspace). I can connect to it just fine.  Then tried to import an Excel file. I don't believe I have a premium acount.

When I do this, I am prompted with this...

And I am met with this...

How can I resolve this and bring the imported data from my excel file into a composite model with the  Power BI Dataset?

Power BI dataset details that I am connected to...
Data source type
SQL Server Analysis Services database

Database
Key Initiative Dashboard PowerBI

Hi @v-yalanwu-msft,

Thanks for responding. I have already enabled that preview feature. Any ideas on how I can successfuly convert to DirectQuery and establish a local model, based on the error above?

Hi, @Bradley101 ;

In Power BI Desktop go to File > Options and settings > Options, and in the Preview features section, select the DirectQuery for Power BI datasets and Analysis Services checkbox to enable this preview feature. You may need to restart Power BI Desktop for the change to take effect.
