Sharepoint Online DataSource can we Live Connect and Use the Consumers Access to the Reporrt

We have a Sharepoint Online List ... Using Import ...   I have recieved a request to see whehter I can query it live/ Direct so they do not have to wait for updates ...

 

Also How can I setup the credentails to use the Consumer of the Report on The Service ?  Using Right now Microfost Account ( 0365 )  , then Privacy Organziation on Desktop and Service ... I am currently configured to see all the records..

 

Thanks for any hints ...

Hi @Anonymous 

Direct query/live connection is not supported for sharepoint list with Power BI.

Aslo, there are not different  credentails for different users to consume the reports in Power bI Service.

 

However, there are some workaounds.

1.

Here's a blog post that some wrote that describes the use of a 3rd party tool to synch the SharePoint lists with normalised SQL Azure tables which then gives you the option of direct query.

Since SQList updates SQL Azure as soon as SharePoint changes are made it is a very nice workaround for Direct Query

2. To make different users see different data based on their account and permission, you could consider RLS.

 In addition, with importing and configure schedule refresh, it will update on schedule and you can set the frequency on your own.
