Dear,
I have preapred a report in power bi desktop which connects to the SSAS tabular model which is residing on the on premise server. It works fast in power bi desktop.
however when I publish to powerbi.com, and do intercativity from there it is very slow. What and all the steps to improve the performance. It looks like there is no difference connecting a SQL server tavle in direct query and also the live connection of a SSAS tabular model.
Enterprise gateway is installed on my desktop. SSAS model is on the server (on premise)

@shamsuddeenvp Connecting live to SSAS tabular model from powerbi.com would also depend on the network connectivity. When you interact with visual on report it send queries via gateway to be executed on on-prem database and result gets returned back. So it may get affected by your network connectivity. In powerbi desktop you are connected locally to on-prem data source and therefore you're seeing performance difference.
Thanks @ankitpatira for yuour reply.
This I am clear that Power BI desktop it directly connect and of course it will be faster.
My query is that why I couldn't see any improvement in performance if I connect SSAS tabular model with respective to connecting SQL tables directly.
Since SSAS tabular model is inmemry and should pull the data fast right. If there is no improvement in performance, doesnt make sense to build a cube, instead directly connect to SQL tables.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks!
