Refresh schedule is not enabled

When trying to schedule a refresh.

 

"Before you can set up a refresh schedule, you'll need to configure a few things.

-> 1. Install a data gateway (Power BI -personal) on a computer that is always on...

2. Provide the data source credentials.

3. Specify a schedule in the Schedule Refresh."

 

If I click the 'gear icon' Manage Gateway Settings, it shows that my data gateway is online and 'Connection Sucessful'.  I am the administrator and can schedule datasets with no problem.  One of my users gets this error.  I also made him an administrator of the gateway, still no luck. 

 

Since he had the on-premises data gateway install before I configured the organizational gateway, would that be the problem?  Maybe have him re-publish his dataset with the on-premises removed?

@kkuhle Schedule refresh option is greyed out if your report (in your case your user report) is using directquery feature. Also check that for the report that your user has published data source name under gateway is same as it is in pbix file.

Hi @kkuhle,

 

From the error message, it seems there is no available data gateway which has the same data source as the dataset, so it prompt the user to install the personal gateway to configure schedule refresh.

 

In your scenario, please ask the user which data source used in this dataset, if data gateway supports this data source, as @ankitpatira suggested, please make sure data source connection is the same as data gateway data source.

 

However, in some situations, the dataset is not supported to use data gateway, as there are many data sources, some of them are not supported in data gateway, then this user needs to install personal gateway. For more information, please refer to this article: Configuring scheduled refresh.
