Hi All,
Two problems I am running into. I have my data set connected to a file on SharePoint. In the server, when I click "refresh" nothing happens. Then when I go to the desktop app it times out. Does anyone know how to get the time out to stop? i am assuming that is why the server also is unable to refresh.

I did not find a real solution, I have to delete and reupload the fle to work.

I would also question why the query is taking so long to refresh. However, if you need to override the default timeout limit, if you are using Web.Contents() to get your excel data, you can use the approach in this post

If this works for you, please mark it as the solution. Kudos are appreciated too. Please let me know if not.

"In the sever"?
Do you mean "in service"?
If so, please go to setting->dataset->schedule refresh->edit credential, so that scehdule refresh works.
In Task Manager , end task of your power bi app, it can close power bi and stop it from running.
Best Regards
Maggie
How big is the data you are pulling in? How many files? For massive amounts of data via XLSX or CSV, Azure Data Lake is the best place for that. SharePoint often isn't optimized for large amounts of data. But you've not provided a lot of details on what you are doing.
