Hello.
I have the following issue.
The first time i published a file to poweb bi online, it was assigned a document ID (guid) and each tab have different url.
lets say
https:// app.powerbi.com /groups/ <<account_guid>> /reports/ <<document ID>>/ReportSection1
https:// app.powerbi.com /groups/ <<account_guid>> /reports/ <<document ID>>/ReportSection2
and so on
then i created several sharepoint webparts pointing to each url and so far everything looked god
However if i publish again the same file, powerbi.com assigns a new document ID, forcing me to update each sharepoint webpart to the new reportsection url.
Already tried to download a copy of the published file, edit it and upload, but i get a new document ID.
Is there a way to:
1.- Keep the same ID through several publications?
2.- Have a way to have a mapping url in sharepoint that can point to different urls ? like the dns domains that keep the same name even if you change the hosting ip .
Hi did you find a work around? I have the exact same issue where I'm creating naviagation links across 100 site collection for users to review a filtered power bi report but everytime i change or just make a small mod to the report I have to update all the links to embedd the new GUID for the report. WTH are you kidding me why can we set the Power BI report GUID to stay as is on initial creation.
@estuardof,
For your first question, I am not able to reproduce your issue. When I upload same PBIX file to Power BI Service and replace the existing dataset, I get same document ID as the first time. Do you check document ID of same report page?
For your second question, it is more related to SharePoint, I would recommend you post the question in SharePoint forums to get dedicated support.
Regards,
Lydia
This isn't a sharepoint question at all its a Power BI Report ID issue. I'm now trying to figure out how to use a rest call to get the Power BI report ID any time it changes so I can automate deleting and readding a embedded links. The orginal post is asking the same question they are just embedding the report in the webpart. Once I embed that report I should never have to go change the embedded link ever.
