Power BI integration using ODBC driver and data gateway

Hi,

I'm new to Power BI and my question is basic. 

I need to connect Power BI desktop to a service for which a pre-designed connector is not available. Then I need to make a dashboard and get it published with refresh capability. My research shows I should use an ODBC driver and then gata dateway to get the dashboard refreshed. 

Is it the right way? If so, what are the steps I need to take? I would really appreciate it if you can breeak the process down.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Please follow the steps below.

1. Get data in power bI desktop with the ODBC connector and create your report and publish it to Power BI Service.

2. Assuming that you have installed the data gateway, you could add your data souce in the gateway. Please refer to this guide docuemnt. If you have not installed the gateway, please follow this article.

3. Edit your credential and set schedule refresh under Setting>> Dataset in Power BI Service.
