Power BI Template for Excel files using file location as a parameter

Hi,

I am doing periodical reports right now on excel file extracted from a Database and other sources. I need to have a template to be used every month, qurder or year with a reference to new excel file. I have those files stored on a shared drive.

my question, how to make the excel file location as a parmeter, so every time I open a template, it asks me about file locations?

Thanks.

Hi @Moh_ali_square,

In your scenario, you can use Query Parameter to pass dynamic Excel path. See: Power BI Desktop Query Parameters, Part 1.

@v-qiuyu-msft Thank you for your reply, I tried it. but it is asking for an absolute path not a paramter. so I can't change the absoule path to a paramter with this way.

is there any other way to include the Excel workbook path as a paramter?

Thanks
