OneDrive & Power BI Unable to refresh the model because it references an unsupported da

Hello,

I am having trouble refreshing my data from OneDrive.

Basically, the workflow I followed is :

- I stored my data (6 CSVs) in a folder on OneDrive

- I then imported my data through "Import CSV" and gave my local path to the OneDrive folder.

- I built my report out of this data and saved my Power BI in the same folder.

- With the service Power BI I imported the project by "Get data", "From file" and then "From OneDrive for business". Import was succesful.

- Then I tried refreshing my dataset on the service but it fails with the error "There was an error when processing the data in the dataset." and the Data source error : "Unable to refresh the model (id=xxxxxx) because it references an unsupported data source."

Is this workflow viable ? I don't really know what path to give to access the data sources, may it come from here ?

I tried it before and thought it was working but now I'm stuck with old data.

Any help would be welcome !

Thx a lot

Fab~

Hi @Fabz,

Do you firstly connect to each CSV file using Get Data->CSV entry in Power BI Desktop, then create reports in Power BI Desktop? If so, in your scenario, you would need to utilize gateway to refresh your dataset in Power BI Service.

However, you can connect to each CSV file using Get Data->Web entry in Power BI Desktop following the instructions in this article, create reports in Power BI Desktop, then upload the Power BI Desktop file to Power BI Service. After that, enter credential for each web query in Power BI Service and you are able to refresh the dataset without gateway.

Thanks,
