Microsoft Mashup Oledb.1

I have to update a spreadsheet every month via power pivot/query. This month I get the error Microsoft.Mashup.OleDb.1 provider is not registered on the local machine. It won't refresh the data. What could have possibly happened? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Most Probably, Your location of the file has changed. If so, reset the filepath to make it work.

I appreciate the answer but the file location hasn't changed.  Could it be possible our companies Microsoft Office hasn't been updated yet?

if you use Power Query to load your data into data model then any upgrade of the model from Power Pivot will be problematic.  Depending on the type of Power Query source you are usually able to import the metadata of the Power Pivot model but you will not be able to refresh the data through the Power Query connection manager defined.

scheduled data refresh for data loaded to Power Pivot via Power Query is not yet supported.

As a workaround, you can follow the below steps:

  1. Build a Power Query and save results to Excel worksheet
  2. Build a new Workbook containing Power Pivot Data model
  3. Import the Excel worksheet as a table created during Step 1
  4. The Excel file created in Step 1 source will continue to be refreshable in PowerPivot using PowerQuery and it will be possible to edit the table source as well.

Bhavesh thank you for your answer.  If the file hasn't changed nor has anything involved changed.  Could it be that my company is about to upgrade to Office 2016?  One month ago everything was perfect but I haven't touched anything that is why I am puzzled.

Hi @bertaron2000,

Based on my research, the above error is caused by that scheduled data refresh for data loaded to Power Pivot via Power Query is not supported. I would recommend you post the question in the Power Query forum to get better answer.

In your scenario, which data source do you connect to in Power Query? You can consider to use Power BI Desktop to connect to the data source, create reports and republish reports to Power BI Service, then schedule refresh for your dataset in Power BI Service. You can get more details about Power BI Desktop and data refresh in Power BI from the following articles.
