Linking to data in ODS format

I'm trying to link to the UK govt data on crime here...

https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/police-recorded-crime-open-data-tables

I can link to the csv files ok (by copying the link to the data and using that in "get data/web/") but I can't do the same with the "ODS" data. I can download this data, open it in Excel then save it as xlsx and then read it in Power BI, but that's pretty messy.

Any ideas?

Michael

@mpcarpenter,

We are not able to directly connect to ODS data in Power BI Desktop. In your scenario, instead of opening ODS data in Excel and saving it as xlsx, you can consider to convert the ODS file to Excel file using online tools, then connect to the Excel file in Power BI Desktop.

We have just outlined a way to convert .ods natively in Power BI / Power Query.
