So we have an on-prem oracle dw. We have successfully used our on-prem Power BI Gateway to connect to file shares. We we setup a connection to our oracle database successfully; however, it doesn't want to link a published data set to what we configured in our Power BI Gateway settings.
1) We setup a connection using in all lower case and the test connection works
(description=(address=(protocol=tcp)(host=???)(port=1521))(connect_data=(service_name=???)))
2) We developed a power bi dataset using the EXACT same connection string, with the username/password, and permission level.
(description=(address=(protocol=tcp)(host=???)(port=1521))(connect_data=(service_name=???)))
3) The user publishing has both Access to publish to that data source and is Admin of the Power BI Gateway
When going under settings for the Data Set, it does not regonize this as a data source to leverage our Power BI Gateway.
Please any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
@pauliev42,
Does your dataset only contain the Oracle data source? If so, make sure that you add Oracle data source within gateway following the instructions in this article. Also ensure that the server and database name matches between Power BI Desktop and the configured data source for the gateway.
However, if your dataset contains multiple data sources, you would need to add all the data sources under gateway . If the above issue still occur, please post a screenshot of your data sources in Power BI Desktop,you can go to File -> Options and settings ->Data source settings to check data sources for Power BI Desktop.
