Incremental data load from Excel

Hi Everybody,

I have a situation where everyday, a system dumps out the daily data. The filename/path is the same everyday ie. the previous days data is overwritten.

Is it possible to get PowerBI Desktop to do an incremental data load? ie. can it pick up the current day data and add it to the history already loaded in PowerBI? OR....will it blow away what is already in Power BI  and just replace with the currently exposed daily data?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

@mattperry008 It will overwrite data from your Excel. It is currently not possible and I would suggest you add votes to the idea using below link. However there are other ways (SSIS) you can have middle layer between source excel and PowerBI desktop to achieve this.

Thanks - that answers the question.

Seems waste to move all that data every load, especially when there is a limit on the rows per hour. None the less, it is what it is.

I've added my vote to the idea.

Thanks,

Matt
