Impala issue This data source cant be accessed by a data gateway :Server:Imapla;Database:Extension

Hello All I am fairly new to PowerBI ,we are trying to connect our onprem Impala CDH vai a gateway in the PowerBI service but we are always getting the message

This data source cant be accessed by a data gateway :Server:Imapla;Database:Extension

We have used the IP address for the Connection in powerBI desktop and are creating the Source under our gateway with the

same IP address .

The gateway as such works for other datasources like SQL . Its just that with Impala it does not work.. please help as we are stuck

Thanks v-yuezhe-msft .. I was able to get the report working after I installed the Latest Gateway I did the following

In Power BI Desktop

Under Options and Settings >> Datasource Settings

I did Clear Permissions at lobal level and then republished the report

The Name in the Data source was kept as the IP

In server Name I put IP:21050

and it started working ..

Thanks v-yuezhe-msft ..

@hmpatel9,

Do you use the latest version of Power BI gateway? When I try to add a impala data source within gateway, I have the following screenshot.

In your scenario, you would need to make sure that the connection string used in Power BI Desktop is same as that you used in gateway. In your Power BI Desktop, there is no port(21050) in the server name, thus, when you add data source within gateway, you should remove port from server name. In addition, ensure that you use same Authentication method for impala data source in Power BI Desktop and gateway.

Lydia
