How to perform join table like left inner join?

Hey,

I have a table with a column where I store a distinct identifier like:

Product ID
A
B
C

In my second table I have:

IDName
AProduct A
BProduct B
BProduct B (another Version)
CProduct C

I want now to have as result a Name for each entry from the first table but if I perform a left outer Join (nothing else is available) I receive instead of a record for each ProductID from table one a duplicate for Product B. How to avoid that?

Hi @gerritlob ,

This is the nature of left joins: It will always match the records of the left table with all records of the right. And if your table on the right has duplicate records (ID = B) then the left join will find two matches and display them. In other words, how shall the left join know which entries of the right table to take into account or not?

The solution is that you need to clean up the second table to remove the duplicates that you do not want.

Does this help? 🙂
