How to make monthly count?

I have a table

machinetypemachine
type1mach1
type1mach2
type2mach1

Every month I want to take a snapshot of the number of machines per machinetype and append to a table after refreshing the table

machinetypemachinecountyearmonth
type12202001
type21202001

Can this be done?

in a (semi)automatic way?

Any help or tips are extremely welcome

Hans

@hanswittoeck - Power BI alone isn't great at these kinds of things. I would investigate using Power Automate to access the dataset once a month and then update a SQL table or a table in the Power BI data model with the information.

Nice suggestion @Greg_Deckler ,

but I keep the topic open for a whileto see if other answers come in. 😉

@Greg_Deckler is right on this. There are some clever hacks involving tricking Incremental Refresh, but they aren't easy to sustain, and if you republish your report, without using the ALM Toolkit, you will lose that data. You need an external process to store your data so Power BI can then aggregate it. Power Automate is a good place to start, but there may be tools outside of Office 365  that can do the same.

DAX is for Analysis. Power Query is for Data Modeling
