Find out about installed gateways

Is there any way to find out about all installed gateways and their admins? I understand that there's no way to control who's allowed to install a gateway. So is there at least a way how to find out who did so?

Thanks

@TePe,

Do you want to get the configured gateway in Power BI Service and want to know that who configures the gateway? If so, you can use Power BI REST API to search the information.

However, if you want to know what gateways are installed in a machine, directly go to control panel, enter gateway to find the installed gateway. You are able to install only one on-premises gateway(personal mode) and only one on-premises gateway in a machine. Alternatively, you can use PowerShell script to automate this process following the guide in the blogs below.

Moreover, you would need to explore Windows log to find who installed gateway.

Hi Lydia,

THANKS for the extensive answer... I guess the Power BI Rest API might be a good start for me... However I suspect that I'll only see the Gateways I have access to (can you confirm?)... The question is more coming out of a governance background... How can I find out on which machine in my organization is a gateway running? So besides the tradional Software Management approach (get an inventory of the installed apps on a PC)  I hoped to get an answer from Power BI (in my tennant which gateways are registered)...

Best Regards,

Thomas

@TePe,

About the Power BI REST API issues, please post the questions in Power BI Developer forum at http://community.powerbi.com/t5/Developer/bd-p/Developer to get dedicated support.

In addition, to find which machine in your organization is a gateway running, you would need to use PowerShell scripts.

Regards,
Lydia
