Enterprise Gateway - monitor data volume ?

Hi All,

We're looking for a "fair" method to recover the IT costs for Enterprise Gateway (infrastructure, maintenance, admin etc.) from the business units so they know what they should budget for.

Personally, I'd prefer something more consumption based (e.g. largest volume data transfer) and charge a flat fee per Mb or Gb. I think this method is fairer to the business rather than based on number of users (which doesn't correlate to Enterprise Gateway useage anyway).

What I'm trying to find out is whether the Enterprise Gateway logs (or some other Power BI log) contains the amount of data transferred per refresh ?. I've had a look around the logs, but I can't see anything obvious ?. Wondered if anyone else has similar needs ?.

Or, is there some way to identify Enterprise Gateway traffic in normal Windows event logs ?

Failing that, is there a way to get the dataset size via an API ? (again, checked the API's available but nothing obvious)

thanks !

@Anonymous,

You can use performance counters to monitor gateway traffic. There are some videos and blog for your reference.

@v-yuezhe-msft thanks ! , I'll take a look sometime today and let you know. I've scanned the document and it looks like I should be able to get what I need.

Hello, In the last few releases of the gateway, I've not been able to get any data other than "0" for each of the listed counters, even in the middle of a large refresh that takes an hour, the counters all stay 0.

Is this something that can be addressed here or do I need to open a ticket?

Thanks!
