Can the Enterprise Gateway be connected to MS Access? I don't see Access listed here.
We've been able to connect to MS Access via the OPDG by using an OLEDB connection (i.e. Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=\\filepath\filename.accdb;). The problem is that the gateway maintains a lock on the accdb file, preventing it from being updated.
What'd be ideal is if microsoft would support refreshing from OneDrive or SharePoint Online which would eliminate the need for a gateway altogether. When we try this we get 'ACE OLEDB provider is not registered on the local machine' errors...keeping in mind this error is being thrown from the Power BI service, NOT from the client running Power BI desktop.
We were able to refresh an MS Access datasource using the OPDG by leveraging an OLEDB connector. i.e. OLEDB connect string: Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=\\fileshare_path\filename.accdb;. However, we then found the gateway maintains a lock on the accdb file, preventing it from being updated.
What would be ideal is if Microsoft would support refreshing from an accdb file on OneDrive or Sharepoint Online. This would eliminate the need for the gateway altogether. When we try this we get ACE OLEDB bitness errors (and keep in mind these errors are coming from the browser using the Power BI service, not our client using PBI desktop).
@dmalsup,
Currently, enterprise gateway can't connect to MS Access, please use personal gateway instead to refresh the Access database.
Besides, there is an idea about adding Access as data source for enterprise gateway, you can vote it up.

Lydia
Thanks for the information. I voted for this idea.
