I'm trying to connect Power BI desktop to our on premise NAV 2017. I've followed Microsoft's guide and done some searching, but am unable to get it connected.
In NAV, I'm copying the ODATA URL under Web Services directly into the ODATA URL feed on Power BI. I enter our company name as it appears in NAV and press "OK".
It asks for my username and password. I ender it in as follows <domain>\<user account> and utilize the web services access key retrieved from NAV.
Once I select "Connect" it says, "We couldn't authenticate with the credentials provided. Please try again."
Any ideas on where to go next?
Hi @Murrgh ,
How about the result after you follow the suggestions mentioned in my original post?Could you please provide more details about it If it doesn't meet your requirement?
Best regards,
Hi @Murrgh ,
Based on this document, what is the authentication options you choose to connect? Please try to use <user account> with the basic authentication. Please try to verify if you can access the same nav server by using the same credential and other official tools.
Based on this document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics-nav-app/madeira-powerbi#accessing--in-power-bi
To access your Dynamics NAV data in Power BI, on the connection page, you must specify the following information:
Field | Description |
---|---|
OData Feed URL | The OData URL so Power BI can access data from your company, such as https://mybusiness.financials.dynamics.com:7048/MS/ODataV4/Company('My%2Business'). |
Authentication method | Choose Basic. |
User name | Your name as it displays for your account in Dynamics NAV, such as John Smith. |
Password | This is the web service access key for your user account in Dynamics NAV. |
Please check the format of OData URL and your user name.
